چکیده

The trajectory of the first excited Efimov state is investigated by using a renormalized zero-range three-body model for a system with two bound and one virtual two-body subsystems. The approach is applied to n− n−18C, where the n− n virtual energy and the three-body ground state are kept fixed. It is shown that such three-body excited state goes from a bound to a virtual state when the n−18C binding energy is increased. Results obtained for the n−19C elastic cross-section at low energies also show dominance of an S−matrix pole corresponding to a bound or virtual Efimov state. It is also presented a brief discussion of these findings in the context of ultracold atom physics with tunable scattering lengths. PACS 03.65.Ge, 21.45.+v, 11.80.Jy, 21.10.Dr

Spin and Isospin Asymmetry, Equation of State and Neutron Stars

In the present work, we have obtained the equation of state for neutron star matter considering the in uence of the ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic spin state. We have also investigated the structure of neutron stars. According to our results, the spin asymmetry stiens the equation of state and leads to high mass for the neutron star.

Modification of 10 cGy neutron or gamma-rays induced chromosomal damages by hyperthermia: an in vitro study

Background: To evaluate the effects of hyperthermia (HT) on the frequency of chromosomal aberrations induced by a low dose of neutron or γ-rays in human peripheral blood lymphocytes. Materials and Methods: Blood samples were exposed to HT (41.5°C for 30 and 60min, 43°C for 15 and 30min), 10 cGy neutron or γ-rays, HT + neutron/γ, and neutron/γ + HT. After standard cell culture, harvestin...

Origin of Borromean systems

The complex energies of the three-body resonances for one infinitely heavy particle and two non-interacting light particles are the sum of the two contributing two-body complex resonance energies. The bound state of a Borromean system originates from a resonance when the third interaction is introduced, a finite mass is allowed and proper angular momentum coupling is included. The relative impo...

Shielding studies on a total-body neutron activation facility

Background: Prompt gamma neutron activation analysis (PGNAA) is known as a non-invasive technique capable of measuring elemental concentration in voluminous samples in a short period of time. Also it is a valuable diagnostic tool for total body elemental measurements. 252Cf and 241Am-Be sources which are usually used in this method, generate not only neutrons, but also emit high-energy and unwa...

Observation of the First Excited State in 23

The first excited state in neutron-rich 23 O was observed in a (2p1n) knockout reaction from 26 Ne on a beryllium target at a beam energy of 86 MeV/A. The state is unbound with respect to neutron emission and was reconstructed from the invariant mass from the 22 O fragment and the neutron. It is unbound by 45(2) keV corresponding to an excitation energy of 2.8(1) MeV. The non-observation of fur...
